Frequently Asked Questions

Communicating with you, our customer is very important to us. Here is a list of answers to the questions most often asked by our customers. If you do not find an answer to your question below then as always feel free to email or call us.

Q: How long will it take for me to receive my order?
A: Most of our items are put into the mail the same or next day. Dried insect specimens are shipped USPS Priority mail (3 days) unless other arrangements are made. On orders that do not include dried insect specimens the shipping time varies from 3 - 9 days.

Q: Are your insects found locally?
A: Yes. All of our specimens are found in North America North of Mexico. Our specimens are field caught by registered collectors throughout the country.

Q: Are any chemicals applied to these specimens that that would identify that I have purchased them online?
A: No. These insects are caught, handled and killed in the same manner that any student would use. Of course we do not condone cheating of any kind so make sure it is permitted by your instructor to use specimens purchased online.

Q: What type of data will be provided with my specimens?
A: In most cases your specimen will be in an individual specimen data envelope. Printed on the envelope is the Family, Common name, date of collection and location collected. Usually there will also be printed on the envelope the specimens genus and sometimes species. Species level identification is typically only required in a Doctorate level course and not generally required for graduate level and below.

Q: Do the specimens arrive already pinned and mounted?
A: No. Your specimens will arrive dried and in data envelopes. You must relax each specimen and then pin and mount them yourself.

Q: Will you pin my specimens for me?
A:No. You must do that for yourself. That way you will be able to customize your display the way you want.
